How to Download Instagram Photos on Mac?

Instagram has become the most influential program over the years ever since it was launched in 2010. What attracts many users to Instagram is its visual nature. These visuals are easy to consume and very attractive. As we mentioned, there is no direct way to download your Instagram photos to Mac because of some privacy concerns, but you can download them with a request for a download link. Here are two simple ways to do it.

Method 1: Download the Data

Login into your Account

Open the Instagram website and go to log in to your account. Once logged in click the gear icon located on the right of the button “edit profile”. From the options list, choose the privacy and security option.

Request download

Opening this will take you to the Instagram account privacy page. Scroll down and you will find the “data download” and then click “request download”

Get download link through email

Now enter your password and email to confirm the email where you want to receive your download link. After that click, the “next” button. Once that is done Instagram will bundle your data into a package that is downloadable. You will receive this link by email. Instagram says that this can take around 48 hours, but the email is usually received within two hours. But make sure to keep a sharp eye on the email, because it only stays valid for 4 days.

Downloading the data

When you get the email, simply click download data. You will have to sign in with your Instagram account and then the download will start. This package will come in a zip form file containing all your activities.

Method 2: Downloading Instagram Photo through Source Code

Here is another method you can use to download Instagram photos to your Mac.

  • Open Instagram and right-click on whichever photo you want to download. From the opened options, choose to inspect element or view page source, based on which browser you use.
  • Navigate through the tab of opened sources.
  • Search through and locate the images folder.
  • Scroll through the elements in this folder and look for the photo that you want to download. Then drag it to the desktop and download or save it.

Instagram does not offer a direct way to download photos, but this does not mean that it is impossible to do so. Use the simple methods described above to download your favorite Instagram photos.
